Honors Chemistry is a fast-paced class that will expose you to the fundamentals of chemistry. This class will challenge you to think critically, analyze, and use your math skills to solve quantitative problems. There will be an emphasis on the scientific process and problem solving skills. Much of the class will be based on laboratory information and scientific inquiry. Instead of being a lecture-dominated class, this class will focus on student engagement and will require students to articulate coherent opinions of their own and defend them. It is through this process that I hope to help students build on their critically thinking skills and expose them to all the exciting concepts in chemistry!
I received my Bachelor of Science from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD and my Master of Science degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. We moved to Arizona from Nebraska in 2002, and have been happy to be in the warmth and sunshine of Arizona.
My husband is also in the field of education, so as a family we are passionate about teaching today's youth. I have a son who is a junior at the University of Arizona and a son who is a senior at Highland High. I'm looking forward to a great year in Honors Chemistry!
